Let's get this party started, eh? I thought it only appropriate to kick off a beauty blog for redheads with a plug for the only company that makes products exclusively for natural and chosen redheads. Founded by Paula Pennypacker in the mid-90s, Just For Redheads famously started with a date: During their first date, on Valentine's Day seven years ago, he gazed into her [Paula's] eyes at a romantic Italian bistro. But limpid pools, he confesses, were not what came to mind. "I'm looking across the table at this beautiful woman with flaming red hair," recalls Duane Abbajay, then a marketing manager, "when I noticed she has black eyes. So I said, 'Why do you have red hair and black lashes?'"
What redhead hasn't had that moment? Whether it's on a date or standing in the drugstore and trying not to get depressed as you weigh your options between "blackest black" and "dark brown" Maybeline, it's awkward knowing that your choices for enhancing your...uh...assets are so limited. JFR has products for hair ranging from champagne blonde to amber to copper to wine to burgandy and beyond, all for the same prices you'd pay at the Bobby Brown or Lancome counter at your local department store.
I would absolutely recommend anything from the make-up and skincare line at JFR. I've ordered various things from them since I was in my teens. However, the one thing I wouldn't recommend purchasing is the line of henna products. They are, quite frankly, overpriced and not the most effective. I'll do a future post on henna tips and tricks, as well as good places to buy.
